Alright today on Repairs101 Iím going to show you how I made this stabilizer for getting better quality video imagery out of my iPhoneís camera.
So I collected some stuff together including a ten dollar tripod and one of those universal smart-phone holder bracket tripod mount things.
I used my brace and bit to bore out a three quarter inch hole and then I tapered down a one inch dowel to fit it.
Being careful not to split the end-grain I cut some threads into the hole and then I hung my counterweight.
So the next thing I needed was a platform to connect the shaft with the camera mount.
And, you know, thatís really about all there was to it. I just put it together after that.
I glued it. I screwed it. I wiped it down with a damp rag.
Careful you donít force the dowel in too tight or youíll end up splitting the end-grain.
It might take you a couple of tries to figure out how much weight you need to balance it perfectly and youíll want to experiment with different ways of holding it, but used correctly it will smooth out some otherwise shaky video.
